ਕਈ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੇੜੇ ਹੈ, ਕਈ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਦੁਰੇਡੇ ਹੈ।
ਇਹ ਇਸ ਕਹਿਣ ਦੇ ਤੁਲ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਮੱਛੀ ਇਕ ਖਜ਼ੂਰ ਦੇ ਰੁੱਖ ਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਹੇ ਬੰਦੇ! ਤੂੰ ਬਕਵਾਸ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਲੁਕੋ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉੇ।
ਪੰਡਿਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਵੇਦਾਂ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਪਰ ਬੇਸਮਝ ਨਾਮ ਦੇਵ ਕੇਵਲ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕੀਹਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਪਾਪ ਦਾ ਦਾਗ ਬਾਕੀ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ?
ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪਾਪੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਮ ਦੇਵ ਦਾ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਬੱਝ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਚੰਦੋਂ ਗਿਆਰ੍ਹਵੀਂ ਦਾ ਉਪਹਾਸ (ਵਰਤ) ਰੱਖਣਾ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਧਰਮ ਅਸਥਾਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਕਰਨ ਕਿਉਂ ਜਾਵੇ?
ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਹੁਣ ਚੰਗੇ ਅਮਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਖਿਆਲਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ।
ਕੌਣ ਹੈ ਐਸਾ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਅਧੀਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮਲੋਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਧਾਰਿਆ?
कोई बोलै निरवा कोई बोलै दूरि ॥
जल की माछुली चरै खजूरि ॥१॥
कांइ रे बकबादु लाइओ ॥
जिनि हरि पाइओ तिनहि छपाइओ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
पंडितु होइ कै बेदु बखानै ॥
मूरखु नामदेउ रामहि जानै ॥२॥१॥
कउन को कलंकु रहिओ राम नामु लेत ही ॥
पतित पवित भए रामु कहत ही ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
राम संगि नामदेव जन कउ प्रतगिआ आई ॥
एकादसी ब्रतु रहै काहे कउ तीरथ जाईਁ ॥१॥
भनति नामदेउ सुक्रित सुमति भए ॥
गुरमति रामु कहि को को न बैकुंठि गए ॥२॥२॥
Some say that He is near, and others say that He is far away.
We might just as well say that the fish climbs out of the water, up the tree. ||1||
Why do you speak such nonsense?
One who has found the Lord, keeps quiet about it. ||1||Pause||
Those who become Pandits, religious scholars, recite the Vedas,
but foolish Naam Dayv knows only the Lord. ||2||1||
Whose blemishes remain, when one chants the Lord's Name?
Sinners become pure, chanting the Lord's Name. ||1||Pause||
With the Lord, servant Naam Dayv has come to have faith.
I have stopped fasting on the eleventh day of each month; why should I bother to go on pilgrimages to sacred shrines? ||1||
Prays Naam Dayv, I have become a man of good deeds and good thoughts.
Chanting the Lord's Name, under Guru's Instructions, who has not gone to heaven? ||2||2||
